The Trainer will assist individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve their potential.
Life skills will include work skills, community work experiences as well as developmental skills training.
This includes, but is not limited to training and coaching in occupational skills, socialization, personal hygiene and daily living.
Life skills development Trainers are also fixed-route drivers or backup drivers.
Must be enthusiastic and energetic.
This is an active position that will involve community engagement for individuals to learn skills in the community and work environments.
Professionalism is important.
Services provided include but are not limited to:
Pre-Vocational Skills Training Social Skills Training Independent Living Skills Community Integration Compensatory Education Classes These classes pertain to the development of skills in vocational education, academics and independent living.
Engagement with individuals with Developmental Disabilities Ability to motivate, encourage and educate individuals Conscientious, disciplined and motivated Problem solve Ability to provide conflict resolution Energetic, creative and flexible Team player Follow agency guidelines and protocols Report to supervisor as needed Teach individuals skills needed to be engaged in the community, including daily living skills, work skills, soft skills, communication skills and community engagement skills.

Qualifications:
Must have one year of experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing home or child-care setting or have worked with individuals who have a developmental disability.
Additional education in the social services area is preferred.
Note:
College/Vocational/Technical training that equals at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours may substitute for the required experience.
Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Must be patient when communicating with individuals in the program.
Must be physically able to climb stairs, stand, stoop, and bend for at least three hours per day.
Ability to use current computerized technology Excellent basic math and writing skills.

CPR and First Aid certified preferred.
Drug Testing/Screening Reference Checks Motor Vehicle Record Check High School or GED is required Ability to drive a 14 passenger wheelchair van is preferred.
Meet state requirements for background check.
Must have a current Florida driver's license and a 3 year clean Florida driving record.
